Solar Powered Generator
Choosing The Right Solar Powered Generator
If you have been doing research on how effective a solar powered generator can be, you may wonder how to find the best one for your own applications. Because they come in a variety of capacities and sizes, you will also find quite a price range. However, so much of what we do takes electric power that it is a wise person who has a backup that can stay up and running when a power outage occurs.
Choosing the right solar powered generator is mainly a function of knowing what devices you intend for it to run. Those devices take a specific number of watts. Obviously, you will need a generator capable of producing enough watts of power to keep your devices up and running. Since you really can get solar generators in any size from just a few inches big, for extreme portability, to twenty feet, you just have to know your needs.
A small generator should be able to run such things as your cell phone, laptop, lamps, microwave oven or even a portable radio or television. These are all important items, but if you have critical medical equipment, keeping it running may be a matter of life or death. Your generator will be able to run as many appliances as it has outlets and watts to power.
The point is that you can’t tell everything simply based on the size. You have to go by the watt output that your solar powered generator can produce. You simply cannot run appliances that add up to more watts than the generator can supply. Be sure you are looking at the number of watts it can handle over an extended period of time, not just the surge capacity.
If a larger model is more costly than you want to pay, you will need to decide which devices you can get along without. Otherwise, you will simply need to save up until you can afford the model that will more effectively keep you up and running.
